This Privacy Policy describes how Device Info ("we", "our", or "the App") collects, uses, and protects
information when you use our mobile application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring
transparency about our data practices.
By using Device Info, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Quick Summary: Device Info is a privacy-focused application. We DO NOT collect, store,
transmit, or share any personal data. All diagnostic information remains on your device.
1. Information Collection and Use
1.1 Personal Information
Device Info does NOT collect any personal information. We do not require you to create
an account, provide your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information.
1.2 Device Information Accessed
The App accesses various hardware and system information on your device solely for the purpose of
displaying diagnostic results to you. This information includes:
- Battery Information: Battery level, temperature, voltage, charging status, and health metrics
- Display Information: Screen resolution, pixel density, refresh rate, and display specifications
- Hardware Specifications: Processor type, RAM capacity, storage capacity, and device model
- Sensor Data: Accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, proximity sensor, and ambient light sensor readings
- Camera Information: Camera specifications, resolution, and available features
- Audio Information: Microphone and speaker capabilities, audio channels
- Network Information: WiFi signal strength, network type, connection status (not browsing history)
- Storage Information: Available storage space, read/write speeds
- System Information: Android version, build number, kernel version
Important: All this information is processed and displayed locally on your device.
It is NOT transmitted to any external servers or third parties.
1.3 Data Storage
Device Info stores diagnostic reports and test history locally on your device using Android's Room database.
This data includes:
- Diagnostic test results and timestamps
- Used phone evaluation checklists
- Performance benchmark scores
- User-generated notes and observations
All stored data remains on your device and is never uploaded to external servers. You have full control
to delete this data at any time by uninstalling the application or clearing app data through Android settings.
2. Permissions Required
Device Info requires the following Android permissions to perform diagnostic tests. Each permission is
used solely for its stated purpose:
2.1 Camera Permission
- Purpose: To test camera functionality, check camera specifications, and test flash/flashlight
- Data Usage: Camera previews are displayed in real-time. No photos or videos are captured, saved, or transmitted
2.2 Microphone/Record Audio Permission
- Purpose: To test microphone functionality and measure audio input levels (decibels)
- Data Usage: Audio is analyzed in real-time for testing purposes. No audio recordings are saved or transmitted
2.3 Location Permission (Fine and Coarse)
- Purpose: To test GPS/GNSS accuracy and location sensor functionality
- Data Usage: Location coordinates are displayed for diagnostic purposes only. Location data is not tracked, stored permanently, or shared
2.4 NFC Permission
- Purpose: To detect and test NFC hardware availability
- Data Usage: Only checks if NFC hardware is present and functional. Does not read NFC tags or transmit data
2.5 Storage Permission
- Purpose: To save and export diagnostic reports as PDF files when you choose to share them
- Data Usage: Only writes PDF reports when you explicitly request to export them. Does not access or read your personal files
Note: All permissions are optional. You can deny any permission, and the App will still
function with other diagnostic modules available. Specific diagnostic tests will only work if their
required permissions are granted.
3. Data Transmission and Sharing
3.1 No Internet Connection Required
Device Info operates completely offline and does not require an internet connection for any of its core
functionality. The App does not connect to any external servers or APIs.
3.2 No Data Sharing
We do NOT share, sell, rent, or trade any information with third parties. There are no analytics services,
advertising networks, or third-party SDKs integrated into the application that collect user data.
3.3 User-Initiated Sharing
The only time data leaves your device is when YOU explicitly choose to:
- Export a diagnostic report as PDF and share it via email, messaging, or other apps
- Share screenshots or information through Android's standard sharing mechanism
In these cases, you have full control over what information is shared and with whom.
4. Data Security
We take data security seriously:
- All diagnostic data is stored locally using Android's secure Room database with encryption support
- The App uses Android's built-in security features and sandbox environment
- No data transmission means no risk of interception or unauthorized access during transfer
- Only your device and apps you explicitly share with can access the diagnostic reports
However, please note that no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use
commercially acceptable means to protect your data locally, we cannot guarantee its absolute security
on your device.
5. Children's Privacy
Device Info does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. The App is
designed for general audiences and can be used by anyone who owns an Android device. Since we do not
collect any personal information, there is no risk to children's privacy when using this App.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used this App, please note that no personal
information has been collected or transmitted.
6. Third-Party Services
Device Info does NOT integrate any third-party services, including but not limited to:
- Analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics)
- Advertising networks (e.g., AdMob, Facebook Ads)
- Crash reporting tools (e.g., Crashlytics)
- Social media SDKs
- Cloud storage services
- Payment processors
The App uses only standard Android system APIs and open-source libraries for its functionality.
These libraries do not collect or transmit any data.
7. Google Play Services and Policies
This App complies with Google Play's policies regarding user data and privacy:
- Data Safety Section: We have accurately disclosed our data collection practices in the Google Play Store's Data Safety section
- Prominent Disclosure: This privacy policy is easily accessible from within the App and on the Play Store listing

8. Your Rights and Choices
As a user of Device Info, you have complete control over your data:
- Access: You can view all stored diagnostic reports and test history within the App at any time
- Deletion: You can delete individual reports or all history from within the App's History section
- Export: You can export your diagnostic reports as PDF files for your personal records
- Permission Management: You can revoke any granted permissions at any time through Android Settings → Apps → Device Info → Permissions
- Complete Removal: Uninstalling the App will permanently delete all locally stored data
9. International Users and GDPR Compliance
Device Info can be used worldwide. Since we do not collect or process any personal data:
- We comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
- We comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)
- We comply with other international privacy regulations
Your diagnostic data never leaves your device, so there are no cross-border data transfers, no data
processing agreements needed, and no risk of non-compliance with regional privacy laws.
10. Advertising and Monetization
Device Info is completely ad-free. We do not display advertisements, and we do not
collect data for advertising purposes. The App does not contain any in-app purchases, subscriptions,
or premium features that require payment.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal,
operational, or regulatory reasons. When we make changes:
- We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
- Significant changes will be notified through the App or Play Store update notes
- Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your privacy.
12. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
Under GDPR, the legal basis for processing device information is:
- Legitimate Interest: To provide you with device diagnostic functionality
- Consent: When you grant permissions for camera, microphone, location, etc.
Since all data processing occurs locally on your device and no personal data is collected or transmitted,
there is minimal privacy risk.
13. Data Retention
Diagnostic reports and test history are retained locally on your device until:
- You manually delete them from the App's History section
- You clear the App's data through Android Settings
- You uninstall the application
There is no automatic deletion or expiration of locally stored diagnostic data. You have complete control
over retention periods.
14. Diagnostic Reports and Exports
When you export a diagnostic report as PDF:
- The PDF file is saved to your device's storage (typically in the Downloads or Documents folder)
- The PDF contains only the diagnostic information you choose to include
- You control who can access the PDF file through Android's file system permissions
- Sharing the PDF via email, messaging, or other apps is entirely at your discretion
Recommendation: If sharing diagnostic reports, be mindful that they may contain device
identifiers (like serial numbers or IMEI) that could be used to identify your specific device.
15. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Device Info does not use cookies or any tracking technologies. There are no:
- Browser cookies
- Tracking pixels
- Web beacons
- Fingerprinting techniques
- Session tracking
- User behavior analytics
16. Open Source and Transparency
Device Info is built using standard Android development practices and open-source libraries:
- Kotlin programming language
- Jetpack Compose UI framework
- AndroidX libraries
- Room database for local storage
- Kotlin Coroutines for asynchronous operations
All libraries used are well-established, maintained by reputable organizations, and do not collect user data.
17. Compliance with Android Policies
